Better World With Design

In this episode of Better World with Design, I share the first story from my Northern Ireland journals—a fictional narrative rooted in the emotional truth of my early years growing up Mormon in Belfast. "The First Driving Lesson" explores a threshold moment: learning to drive becomes a metaphor for navigating the complicated terrain between doctrine and experience, between who we're told to be and who we're becoming. Through fragments of daily life—a first driving lesson, a friend's silence, a borrowed De La Soul tape, and the strange feeling of moving into an older sister's room—this story maps the small revelations and quiet transformations of adolescence in a divided city. It's about finding your way when the handbook only covers some of the corners.
